Open date set, Saturday March 30th

After 2 years of hard work, lots of fundraising, and many new friendships, the Beacon Dog Park will open on Saturday, March 30th with a ribbon cutting at 2 pm.

Let me first state, it’s been a monumental effort getting this last stage complete, there were so many things to learn, coordinate and take care of, I thank everyone for their patience and continued donations during these last several months.

I want to thank everyone who donated and played a part getting this park this far – I very much appreciate all of your help, kind words, and warm support.

Proceeding with our plan to open

Over the past six weeks, we have all enthusiastically watched the park materialize before our eyes. I am delighted to report that the main construction of the park is now complete!

We are now moving forward with a plan to open the park as soon as possible – our target opening date is early February.

  • All of our Phase 1 goals were accomplished and include: two separated enclosures (for large and small dogs), key’d entry gate, and working water hydrants!
  • Over the next 6 to 8 weeks the following will be purchased & installed: donor appreciation plaques, signage, information boards, brick garden, trash cans, benches etc.
  • Membership to the park will be open to everyone within Beaconand the surrounding towns provided your dog is licensed in your home municipality, your dog is well behaved and properly socialized, you pay the annual fee of $45 per family (and $10 per additional dog)
  • Within the next few weeks, you will all receive an email about how to register for park membership.
  • We will be doing a last call for bricks very soon – so if you would like to have personalized brick, please visit our brick page.
  • There will be more emails arriving over the next few months, please be sure to read them all, as they will help make our park’s opening go smoothly.

Here’s the the latest news.

  • During this phase we will continue to raise our remaining funds and we ask everyone who hasn’t yet contributed to do so today.
  • Our list of supporters continues to grow – we thank you all!
  • We’ve added a new donation tier called “Kindhearted Dog Lover” and you can choose whatever amount you are comfortable with – we thank you in advance.
  • BRICKS! – we are offering bricks which can be inscribed with a name, message, and/or dog motifs. They are available for a $200 contribution, if you have already donated in the past, we will absolutely lump you previous donation upwards -visit our bricks page for more details.
  • We have two fundraisers coming up in November
  • Sunday Nov 4th – Pancake Breakfast at St. Rooco Society from 9am till 12pm
  • Saturday Nov. 17th – Concert width Solaris Voices at the Howland Cultural Center at 6:30pm (tickets available online)
  • There is still a lot to get done before we can open and we ask everyone to be patient as we coordinate everything that needs to occur – please remember this is an all volunteer team who have been working hard for the past two years :>

$5200 left to go

We’re now down to $5,200 left to go!….let’s keep up the momentum – if we hit the $5,000 mark by Saturday we immediately get an additional $1,000 (thanks to an anonymous donor)

5200 left to go

Our first matching pledge!

A very kind and generous family in Beacon has offered to match dollar-for-dollar (up to a $1000 max) an donation between today and Oct 20th. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider doing so – your donation will effectively have double the impact.

On behalf of all the supporters of the dog park, we thank this family for their generosity.
